Know a student who can change the world?

Invite them to the 2021 Buffalo Youth Summer Symposium or possibly sponsor them!

Dear Friend in Education,

Know a high school student who can change the world?  Invite them to the 14th Annual Youth Summer Symposium. Sponsored by the Academy for Human Rights (formerly the “Summer Institute of Buffalo”) and Erie 1 BOCES, the program provides students the opportunity to hear internationally-known human rights experts, take part in hands-on activities and field trips, and learn the skills they need to create positive change. Open to any high school student from around the world, this year’s program will be held from July 11th-16th via Zoom. Created in 2008 by award-winning, nationally-recognized educators, the Symposium provides its participants with the inspiration and tools to become the leaders that they were born to be.

Each year, the Symposium’s students rave about the personal stories that are shared by the program’s speakers–no matter what topic is presented. This year’s theme of “Our Stories Will Change the World” builds upon this excitement by having several local, national, and international human rights leaders share the narratives of what inspired them. It is hoped that those changemakers will in turn empower the Symposium’s participants to tell their own stories; with no story unimportant, no experience not meaningful, and no step too small.

While tuition is $100, scholarships are available, with no student turned away. Last year, over seventy young changemakers attended the Symposium from over eight countries.  The flyer is attached and embedded below. Please feel free to share this news as widely as you are able.  Go to to learn more.

Thank you for your consideration and support. With gratitude and friendship-
