Our 2017 District 4 Jane M. Klausman Award Winner

Elizabeth Van Dyck

Elizabeth Van Dyck is currently enrolled in the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program with a Health Services Management specialization at the DeGroote School of Business through McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She has previously completed a combined honours degree in Arts & Science and Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University, and a Master of Science in Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto.

Elizabeth worked as an occupational therapist in acute care facilities in both Ontario and Saskatchewan, and as a result of her experience is passionate about working towards innovative solutions in healthcare that balance fiscal responsibility with patient-centred, holistic and empathetic care. Her interest in bringing together the clinical and business worlds of healthcare led her to return to McMaster University to complete an MBA with a healthcare specialization.

In a recommendation letter she was described as follows: “She worked professionally and collaboratively with other teams to help the group achieve their individual goals for projects as well as ensuring that they aligned with the organization’s collective objectives. She frequently provided the team with new ideas, challenged assumptions, and encouraged others to explore creative solutions. Elizabeth is also able to effectively assess risks in order to manage and solve problems. She is open to the ideas of others and is skilled at leveraging the unique strengths of each team member. Elizabeth’s energy and enthusiasm inspires excellence.”

Elizabeth is very grateful and honoured to have been selected as one of the Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship recipients, as this scholarship has allowed her to continue to pursue her MBA degree. In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee, reading and travelling.  When exploring a new place, she loves learning about its history and culture.
