Governor’s November Message

November 22nd, 2018 by Communications in featured

Dear Zontians,

It’s a pleasure to be writing to you on this eve of Thanksgiving (in the US – as our Canadians already celebrated in October). We certainly have a lot to be grateful for in District 4. Our Centennial Biennium is a busy & exciting one already.

In addition to our usual service & advocacy as well as purely enjoyable socializing in our clubs, we are preparing for our Traveling Flag District-wide Project to begin. Our flag has been custom made for us; Lt. Gov. Janice Durmis has prepared the accompanying book; & as soon as the Publicity Kit is complete, the Board will establish the route with input from our clubs. Our Traveling Flag will further our Six Area Director’s initiative to have a border-less district – bringing us all together in service of our Zonta aims. We invite everyone to the unveiling of the flag in Niagara Square in Buffalo, Zonta’s birthplace at noon on Sunday, Nov. 25. It’s the First Day of the United Nations’ 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. In addition, we hope some of you can attend events that other clubs are having on Nov. 25. The Communications Team has emailed this info to all current correct members’ emails. This is the beginning of a new service: weekly MailChimp emails about D4 club projects & news throughout the Centennial Biennium & beyond. Be sure to submit yours to Communications.

In January, we will have the online meeting that club centennial chairs requested at our July meeting. We hope every club’s Centennial Chair will share what her club is doing & support each other.

Our D4 website is getting a new format to better serve us – courtesy of Sheena Poole’s efforts.

These are some of the new initiatives that your Board Officers & Committee Chairs are undertaking to make D4 even better.

Clubs are also stepping up to meet the ZI Membership Challenge. Some are inducting 1, 2, 4, 6 & even 8 new members in ZC Oakville.

And as individuals & groups, we can celebrate & support Zonta when we wear Zonta/Centennial pashminas, Centennial caps, orange “Zonta Says No” tee shirts from D4… or even make Zonta buttons like ZC Kenmore did. These are just some of the exciting new things happening in our District.

So catch the excitement & enjoy celebrating our Centennial in your own club … with other clubs … & with your whole District.

I am grateful for all of our members & what we are able to accomplish together to empower women to make our world a better place. Thank you for your dedicated service in Zonta.

Bonnie Clesse
