The McMaster Golden Z Club is the only Golden Z in Canada as well as the only one in District 4.  With almost all classes being held online this school year, their weekly hour long Zoom meetings included members living in British Columbia as well as different parts of Ontario.  The creation of break-out rooms during meetings worked well for giving everyone time to speak and get to know each other as well as for planning events efficiently.

Accomplishment’s Made During COVID

Several online events were held including Lunafest where they partnered with their sponsor club, the Zonta Club of Hamilton 1.

  • Money raised by the Golden Z Club was donated to Inasmuch House, which is a women’s shelter.
  • They also held 3 Trivia nights with the topics Women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), 2SLGTBQIA+ (two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual), and International Women’s Day.
  • A very interesting, informative speaker event was held for International Women’s Day with the topic Women in STEM and Social Justice.

These events were advertised in the District 4 News and through social media.  They were open to high school Z–Club members, Zonta members and the public.
