Zonta of Owen Sound was busy in December wrapping up the end of 2024, assembling Hygiene Kits for local women in need at the monthly meeting. This year another 50 kits were compiled and delivered to four agencies in the city of Owen Sound that provide services to vulnerable women and their families: Safe’n Sound, Brightshores Health System In-Patient Mental Health Program, Brightshores Health System Crisis Prevention Program and the Canadian Mental Health Association. Club members donated all of the items including warm socks, hygiene products, gum, hand and feet warmers, pens/notebooks, etc , into one convenient kit, allowing agency staff to connect and provide support and assistance in a crisis. Reusable bags were a great addition for efficiency and durability. There were also warm winter clothing items gathered and donated to help with the cold weather and snow that has settled into Grey County. Agency staff shared their gratitude and sent well wishes for a wonderful holiday season! As well, a few members of Zonta of Owen Sound met with Women’s Centre Grey Bruce executive staff for a photo opportunity for funds donated by the club from the Sept 2024 Fabulous and Fun Fashion Show and from the 25th Annual Ladies Golf Classic held in June 2024. A total of $4500.00 was directed to support the Anti-Human Trafficking Program specifically, where young women are provided a live-in setting and given supports to help build resilience after having endured a very difficult period in their lives.
