2025 scholarship winners

This year’s Young Women in Leadership Award (YWLA) is Jillian Knuutila.  The $750 award qualifies Jullian to compete at the district and international levels.  Jillian will attend Daemen University’s Physician’s Assistant Program – a five-year program procuring a Bachelors and Masters Degrees.

Marisa Schults from Wilson High School has been awarded thee Zonta Club of Lockport’s Charter Member Scholarship.  The $2000 scholarship is awarded to a high school Senior planning to attend a four-year college.  Marisa is from Wilson High School and will attend St. John Fisher in the Fall for nursing. She intends to become a pediatric nurse.

Isabella Behkne received the Zonta Club of Lockport Memorial Scholarship of $1000.  Isabella is also from Wilson High School and received a $1000 scholarship.  She will be studying Physician Assistant Studies at Daemen University.

Isabella Talluto is from Lockport High School and received $750 for the Zonta Cub of Lockport Scholarship.  She will be attending Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) majoring in Biology.  She intends to be a researcher in the microbiology and immunology field, focusing vaccines and bacteria.

Avery Stevenson received the Zonta Club of Lockport Scholarship of $750.  Avery is from Newfane High School and will also be attending RIT and studying Environmental Science.  She intends to work in the field of Conservation.

Kendall Hoffer is from Newfane High School and received Zonta Club of Lockport Scholarship of $500.  Kendall is will also be studying Environmental Science and plans on working in that field.

This year’s scholarships were funded by the Zonta Club of Lockport’s Phantom Ball.  This annual event funds community nonprofit organizations and scholarships.

The club was founded in 1920 and is a member of Zonta International (ZI).  ZI is a leading global organization of individuals working together to build a better world for women and girls.  Zonta has more than 26,000 members belonging to more than 1100 clubs in over 64 countries.  Zontians volunteer their time and talents to support local, regional, and international service projects.
